Paul Frankenberg: My Personal StoryHere's a brief personal biography. My personal story is pretty simple and straight forward. There aren't any log cabins, foster homes, or silver spoons in my personal story. I was born in Massachusetts, grew up in Connecticut, and have lived in many other parts of the country since then, including Los Angeles, Denver, Minneapolis, Memphis, Atlanta, Columbus, OH and now, Chattanooga, TN. Additionally, I was living and working as a business consultant in Saudi Arabia in 2001, and it was an easy decision to permanently return home to the United States shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. I grew up in stable family in a middle class community in central Connecticut. I got my first job in the 5th grade (a daily paper route), and have been working ever since. As a kid I was an active member of the Boy Scouts, and stayed with it all the way to the rank of Eagle Scout. I was an above average student in school and was sufficiently well rounded to earn a 4-year Navy college scholarship. However, after graduating from high school and two weeks before I was scheduled to depart for my first summer of training at sea, I received a letter from the Bureau of Naval Personnel apologizing for the fact they hadn't notified me sooner about a relatively minor physical problem that disqualified me from their program. I was crushed!
The goal of my personal story had been to earn a degree in Aerospace Engineering, learn to fly fighter jets off carrier decks, and eventually, fly 747's around the globe for a major airline. However, I suddenly had no scholarship, and no career focus. I continued on to college to study engineering, but decided to take a break after two years. As it turned out, I never looked back. Throughout my second year of college I was also employed full-time as a Research Assistant in the Nuclear Physics Research Department of a large industrial company that designed and built nuclear reactor cores. They were picking up my college expenses and were about to give me full Engineer status when I decided I wasn't cut out for a lifetime of studying the behavior of atoms. I decided to end that job after a year and I subsequently discovered that I was much happier and more productive working in the far more dynamic areas of business management, operations, and marketing. (I guess this was the first step on the road to becoming an Internet Business Marketing Consultant.) I was busy climbing the corporate ladder and spent many years at the Director and Vice President level prior to becoming an Internet Business Marketing Consultant. Over the years, I've worked for companies with billion dollar revenue streams, mid-size companies doing considerably less, and even small entrepreneurial companies. My personal story underwent a significant "bump" when, in one swift move, I was "out-placed" from the corporate world following the sale of the company I'd been a part of for many years. There were a few twists and turns along the way. But, I ultimately decided to follow a long-term passion and pursue a career on the business side of the Internet. This was a pivotal event in my personal story and has brought me to where I am today, running a growing business as the eBiz Marketing Coach, while simultaneously participating in various other Internet based activities. To wrap it up, my wife, Susan, and I have raised three wonderful children who are now successful young adults (yes, we're very proud parents). We've become "empty nesters" who work hard and play hard, with interests ranging from scuba diving and snow skiing to nature photography and travel. We're active in our local church (in fact, I was recently elected to the Board of Directors). We've recently started conducting non-denominational "Marriage Workshops" for adults of all ages. And overall, life just seems to keep getting better and better!
